Packtown Supports Radio Overberg Community Day
Last year in December our local radio station, based here in Bredasdorp, Radio Overberg hosted the Community Project 2023. This was an initiative to support our community and create day of joy for those who would otherwise not experience much of the festive season excitement.
It was held at the Madela hall in Bredasdorp, where the kids were treated to fun activities like a jumping castle. A Father Christmas handed out sweets and met the children with cheer and laughter. With community donations, Radio Overberg was able to provide cake and drinks, and clothing were also handed out to young and old. About 350 – 400 people benefitted from this fantastic initiative. Packtown Supports the Sluyter Foundation Charity in Hermanus
This foundation, affiliated with Dutchies restaurant provides a summer camp to 125 kids from the Hermanus area. Many of these children’s parents work in the hospitality industry, working long hours and not being able to be at home with the kids over the summer holidays.
Dutch student volunteers run this summer camp, where the kids are treated to three meals a day, plus various activities such as nature hikes and boat rides. Some educational activities include gardening and First Aid.
